Niger Police Discipline Officers Over Accidental Shooting of Immigration Officer

The Niger State Police Command has launched internal disciplinary action against officers involved in the accidental shooting of Immigration personnel, Christiana Oladimeji, during a mob incident in Minna on February 21, 2025.

The incident, which left Oladimeji hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at the Specialist Hospital, Minna, prompted a visit from the police hierarchy to assess her condition and show support.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Aminu Garba, representing the Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, met with the victim’s family and expressed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and proper care.

Garba revealed that the Niger State Government had donated N1 million to assist with Oladimeji’s medical expenses. “We appreciate the state government for its continued kind gestures and support to the police command and security agencies in the state,” he said.

He also commended the victim’s family for their patience and resilience, assuring them of the police command’s support throughout her recovery.

Highlighting the strong collaboration between the Police, Immigration Service, and other security agencies in Niger State, Garba pledged to maintain and strengthen these partnerships.

The officers responsible for the incident are currently facing internal administrative disciplinary proceedings.
