The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), alongside Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, have officially declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The endorsement was announced during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, led by HOSTCOM National President, Dr. Benjamin Tamaranebi, and attended by other loyalists of Tompolo. Dignitaries present included Chief Ese Omafuakpo, Chairman of Traditional Rulers of the People of South-South; Chief Obong Udo, Chairman, Council of Chiefs; and Timi Alale, the Adua Tein 1 of Ijaw Izonbe.

According to Tamaranebi, the decision to back Tinubu’s second term was unanimously taken by stakeholders of the Niger Delta, who lauded the President’s achievements in addressing oil theft and pipeline vandalism—issues that had crippled Nigeria’s economy for over two decades.

Tamaranebi praised Tinubu’s administration for revitalizing the oil and gas sector, stating, “The sector, long abandoned and left for dead, has made a stunning comeback under his leadership.” He added that the endorsement aligns with the directives of their grand patron, Ekpemupolo, who believes that Tinubu’s impressive performance in human development and community empowerment justifies his continued leadership until 2031.

Speaking on the administration’s impact, Tamaranebi remarked, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered. He has steadied the ship, empowered local communities, and needs more time to complete ongoing development initiatives across the country. Politics is about choices, and we have chosen continuity.”

The HOSTCOM leader also called on the President to intervene in the political crisis engulfing Rivers State, urging for a peaceful resolution following the declaration of emergency rule.

“We appeal to Mr. President to use his good offices to foster reconciliation among the warring factions in Rivers State. We believe that he has the capacity to restore peace and stability to the troubled region,” he said.

With this endorsement, the Niger Delta stakeholders reaffirm their commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s vision for a stable and prosperous Nigeria.
