The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2024 Ondo State election, Mr. Myson Nejo, has extended a warm welcome to members of the newly aligned opposition coalition, assuring them of full integration into the party’s state chapter through established structures.
In a statement released on Sunday, Nejo expressed satisfaction with the recent declaration by Hon. Bolaji Abdullahi, the interim national spokesperson of the ADC, affirming that state chapter structures will remain intact during the coalition’s transitional period. He described the development as a step in the right direction, providing much-needed clarity on the party’s internal alignment.
“I want to unequivocally state that based on the decision of the party leadership at the apex, the existing structure of the ADC in Ondo State remains fully intact and operational,” Nejo said. “The coalition, which we warmly embrace, is designed to strengthen the ADC through partnership and integration—not to dismantle or override the party’s well-established framework.”
Nejo reaffirmed that the recognized leadership structure in Ondo State includes the State Chairman and Executive Committee, Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen and their respective Committees, and Ward-level leadership. He emphasized that there are no constitutional provisions within the party for roles such as “State Coordinator” or “LGA Coordinators.”
Calling for a seamless and respectful integration, the ADC flagbearer urged coalition members to follow due process by registering with the party at the ward level and aligning with the existing leadership framework.
“This process is vital to fostering unity, ensuring a seamless integration, and building a cohesive party that reflects the collective aspirations of all members and the people of Ondo State,” he added.
Nejo described the ADC as a beacon of hope, inclusivity, and progress, committed to upholding democratic values, transparency, and unity. He noted that the coalition’s entry into the ADC presents a unique opportunity to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and propel a collective vision for a better Ondo State and Nigeria.
“On behalf of the ADC in Ondo State, I extend a heartfelt welcome to all coalition members joining our great party,” he concluded. “Let us unite under the ADC’s banner, leveraging our collective strengths to deliver transformative leadership and sustainable development to our people.”
