NECO Releases 2024 Common Entrance Exam Results

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for candidates applying to Federal Government Colleges, as well as the entrance examination results for the Federal Government Academy in Suleja, Niger State.

At a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Sununu, announced the release of the results. He reported that 71,291 candidates registered for the NCEE, with 66,931 candidates sitting for the exam and 4,360 candidates absent. The highest score achieved was 203 out of a maximum of 210, while 13 candidates scored the lowest with 1 point.

Dr. Sununu noted an unprecedented level of examination malpractice, with 52 candidates (2 from Lagos State and 50 from Rivers State) involved.

Regarding the Federal Government Academy’s examination, 2,649 candidates registered, 2,336 sat for the exam, and 313 were absent. The highest score recorded was 180, and the lowest was 5.

The Minister reaffirmed that the admission criteria for Federal Unity Colleges would remain consistent: 60% merit, 30% equality of state, and 10% exigency. He directed the Senior Secondary Education Department of the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure the timely and criteria-based completion of the admission process.

Dr. Sununu also reassured parents that the government is committed to enhancing infrastructural development, improving feeding, and upgrading teacher quality to ensure effective teaching and learning in the colleges.
