Kano, Nigeria – January 31, 2025 – The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully raided several notorious drug hotspots, resulting in the arrest of 18 individuals linked to various drug-related offenses.

The operation, conducted on January 30, targeted areas notorious for illicit drug activities, including Fagge, Kwarin Kaya, Kofar Wambai, and Kofar Mata. During the raids, NDLEA operatives seized significant quantities of illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa and Rubber Solution, along with locally made dangerous weapons.

Confirming the development, Assistant Superintendent of the NDLEA, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, stated that the operation was part of the agency’s intensified efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the state.

“The operation was conducted in multiple locations, where 18 suspects were apprehended,” Maigatari said. “During the raid at Kwarin Kaya, some individuals attempted to intimidate our officers from a distance. However, our team remained resolute, ensuring the operation was successfully executed without incident.”

He reiterated the NDLEA’s commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and curbing the rise in drug abuse, emphasizing that those involved in drug trafficking would be prosecuted.

“The Command, under the leadership of CN AI Ahmad, remains dedicated to ensuring that communities are free from the dangers associated with drug abuse and trafficking,” he added.

The agency has assured residents that it will continue to take decisive action against drug-related crimes while urging the public to support its efforts in creating a drug-free society.
