The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed all State Police Commands to organize free medical outreaches, humanitarian programs, and distribute palliatives to communities nationwide as part of the activities marking the 2025 National Police Day celebration.

This directive was announced in Abuja on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi. He stated that the week-long event, scheduled from April 2 to April 7, 2025, will also include community engagements, security exhibitions, and outreach initiatives aimed at fostering stronger relationships between the police and the public.

The National Police Day was officially declared by President Bola Tinubu on April 19, 2024, during the Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Ceremony. The annual celebration, set for April 7, honors the dedication, sacrifices, and achievements of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining national security.

The event is expected to bring together government officials, community leaders, representatives of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and other key stakeholders to celebrate the bravery and dedication of police officers across the country.

A special tribute will also be paid to fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professional excellence and public service, IGP Egbetokun called on Nigerians to actively participate in celebrating the courageous officers who contribute to the nation’s security daily.
