The National Assembly has rescinded its earlier decisions on the 2025 budget to correct errors in capital and recurrent expenditure line items.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had passed the ₦54.9 trillion budget on Thursday, February 13. However, lawmakers have now made adjustments, reducing capital expenditure by over ₦500 billion while increasing recurrent expenditure by the same amount.
According to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the revised budget allocates ₦13.588 trillion to recurrent spending and ₦23.439 trillion to capital projects.
The budget has sparked mixed reactions, with some critics warning that it could exacerbate inflation.
