From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council, Osun axis, has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for approving N75,000 as the minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
The new chairman of the student union, Afolabi Faruq, who spoke to journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, said the newly approved salary would assist some parents who are civil servants in attending to the needs of their children.
“We also, responsibly, lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for the recent approval of a N75,000 minimum wage for the workers in the state. This will go a long way to help our parents, who are mostly civil servants, take care of us as their children and ensure our education does not suffer,” Faruq said.
The students also commended Adeleke for his giant strides, particularly in education, and promised to help the government achieve its agenda for the state.
He condemned the ‘attempted murder’ of Osun Transport Management System Chairman, Mr Wakili Alowonle, and demanded the immediate prosecution and arrest of Anti-Kidnapping Squad head, Mr Moses Lohor.
“NANS JCC Osun Axis demands a thorough investigation into the ongoing crisis between the police and Osun State Transport Management System leadership, with a view to restoring peace in the state and allowing transporters to resume service to ease suffering among students due to the suspension of their service.”
