Abuja, Nigeria — The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the official fares for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, reflecting a substantial increase compared to previous years.

According to a statement signed by NAHCON spokesperson Fatimah Usara and approved by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the fare structure varies across regions. Pilgrims from Borno and Adamawa states will pay ₦8,327,125.59, while those from the northern zone are required to pay ₦8,457,685.59. The southern states face the highest charge at ₦8,784,085.59.

The announcement follows extensive consultations involving NAHCON Chairman Prof. Abdullahi Saleh, the Forum of State Executive Secretaries (FSEC), and other key stakeholders. The commission emphasized efforts to prevent the fares from escalating further despite rising costs.

This year’s fare marks a significant departure from the cost of the 2024 Hajj, which began at ₦4.5 million, later increased to ₦4.9 million, and was adjusted to ₦8.5 million for new registrants. Pilgrims who had made early deposits paid ₦6.8 million last year.

NAHCON attributed the fare adjustments to collaborative efforts aimed at ensuring inclusivity while balancing rising operational costs. The commission advised intending pilgrims to adhere to payment timelines, follow Saudi Arabia’s guidelines, and make early payments to avoid last-minute inconveniences.

“The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), under the leadership of its Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, is pleased to announce the Hajj fare for the 2025 season,” the statement read.

“The fare was announced following approval from the Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The 2025 Hajj fare for Borno and Adamawa zone’s intending pilgrims is ₦8.33 million. Similarly, the cost for intending pilgrims from the Southern states is ₦8.78 million, while those from the Northern zone will pay ₦8.46 million.”

NAHCON assured pilgrims that collaborative measures have been taken to manage costs effectively while prioritizing a seamless pilgrimage experience.

The announcement also highlighted the Federal Government’s selection of four airlines to handle Hajj operations for the season, further underscoring the administration’s commitment to efficient service delivery.

Intending pilgrims are urged to comply with the payment schedules and guidelines outlined by Saudi authorities to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
