Lagos, Nigeria – Personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have reportedly barricaded the headquarters of Ikeja Electric following the disconnection of power supply to a military facility.
Eyewitnesses claim that staff members of the electricity distribution company were assaulted during the confrontation. A viral video circulating on social media platform X shows an official NAF vehicle stationed at the main entrance of Ikeja Electric’s office in Lagos on Thursday.
A staff member of Ikeja Electric, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak, confirmed the incident to reporter.
Efforts to obtain an official response from Ikeja Electric’s Managing Director, Folake Soetan, were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages remained unanswered at the time of reporting. Similarly, attempts to reach the Nigerian Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, yielded no response.
The situation remains tense as stakeholders await an official statement from both parties.
