The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to defending the nation and protecting its citizens, declaring that the Force remains “alert, ready, and determined” every single day.

Abubakar made the declaration during an operational visit to frontline troops in Katsina State, as part of activities marking the 61st anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Air Chief charged personnel to remain vigilant and steadfast in the ongoing fight against terrorists, insurgents, and bandits across the country.

“This is not the time to slow down. While we have achieved commendable milestones, the fight is far from over,” the CAS said. “Now is the time to consolidate and intensify our air strikes until enduring peace and security are restored nationwide.”

He emphasized that the anniversary celebration not only showcases NAF’s airpower capabilities but also reinforces its state of readiness and operational proficiency.

“Nigerians can rest assured that we remain fully committed to our constitutional mandate. We will continue to give our very best in defence of our nation,” he stated.

Abubakar also used the occasion to interact with troops, inspect facilities, and assess the state of deployed platforms — a move that reflects his administration’s focus on frontline engagement, operational effectiveness, and improved troop welfare.

The CAS stressed the importance of sustaining momentum, adding that the Nigerian Air Force must continue to give citizens reasons to believe in its resolve and capabilities.

“Even as we mark 61 years of dedicated service, we must give our fellow countrymen more victories and more hope,” he added.
