The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a decisive blow to terrorist activities in Borno State, executing a series of precision airstrikes that neutralized scores of insurgents and crippled their operational capabilities.
In a statement released on Thursday, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, confirmed that coordinated airstrikes were carried out on terrorist enclaves in Warawara, near Wajiroko, and Chinene in the Mandara Mountains.
According to the statement, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions had revealed terrorist movements and stockpiles of logistics, including gun trucks, ammunition, and fuel reserves. The terrorists were also observed planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the area.
“In response, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) executed multiple waves of air interdiction missions. The first wave targeted the insurgents’ logistics hub, destroying gun trucks and critical supplies, while subsequent strikes with rockets and cannons ensured the complete annihilation of terrorist assets,” the statement read.
Another terrorist hideout in Chinene was also struck after intelligence reports confirmed insurgents had relocated there following an earlier air raid on Degbewa on March 16, 2025. Overhead reconnaissance identified active structures, prompting immediate airstrikes that set terrorist hideouts ablaze. Insurgents attempting to flee were engaged and neutralized.
The airstrikes resulted in the destruction of four terrorist gun trucks, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, and several makeshift shelters, forcing the insurgents to abandon their positions.
The NAF emphasized that the successful operations reaffirm its commitment to eliminating terrorist threats, disrupting their logistics, and denying them safe havens. “With sustained pressure on terrorist elements, the NAF remains resolute in its mission to restore peace and security in the country,” the statement added.
