MYSTERY AT MIDNIGHT: Newborn Baby Vanishes from Ekiti Hospital, Four Arrested

Panic and confusion erupted at the Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti after a newborn baby girl mysteriously disappeared from the facility less than 24 hours after birth.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, reportedly came to light when healthcare workers on duty attempted to attend to the infant—only to discover she was nowhere to be found.

The shocking disappearance has thrown the hospital into chaos, leaving the baby’s mother, relatives, patients, and staff in deep distress. Eyewitnesses described a tense atmosphere as news of the missing baby spread rapidly throughout the health centre.

Sources within the facility revealed that the baby’s mother, along with several hospital staff members—including a security guard—have been detained for questioning as part of ongoing investigations.

Efforts to get an official response from the hospital’s management proved abortive as of press time.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, said four suspects have so far been arrested.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter,” Abutu said. “We are committed to ensuring that the missing baby is found. The suspects in custody are currently providing useful information.”

As the search intensifies, residents of Ado Ekiti remain gripped with anxiety, hoping for the safe return of the missing newborn.
