0

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that fasting will continue on Sunday as the crescent moon marking the end of Ramadan has not been sighted.

In an official statement released on Saturday by the Secretary-General of NSCIA, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the council emphasized that the crescent of Shawwal must be sighted in accordance with moon sighting and verification standards before the declaration of Eid-el-Fitr.

Prof. Oloyede urged Muslims across the country to continue searching for the crescent on the 29th day of Ramadan. Should the crescent be sighted, His Eminence will declare Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the 1st of Shawwal and the celebration of Idul Fitr.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
