The Vice Chancellor of MacPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, Prof. Francis Igbasan, has called on the Federal Government to extend the benefits of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to private universities.
Prof. Igbasan made the appeal during a press conference yesterday, ahead of the university’s combined 8th and 9th convocation ceremonies.
The convocation, scheduled for Friday, will see 281 students graduate, with the conferment of diplomas, first degrees, higher degrees, and presentation of prizes. Among the graduating class, 24 students will earn first-class honors, 116 will graduate with second-class upper, 65 with second-class lower, and 13 with third-class degrees.
Highlighting the significance of the convocation, Prof. Igbasan announced that Ekiti State’s Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, will deliver the convocation lecture titled “A Nation in Transition: Managing the Yearnings of its Restless Youths.”
Speaking on the university’s vision, Prof. Igbasan emphasized MacPherson’s commitment to building individuals of excellence and integrity. “Our mission is to provide qualitative, functional, and sound education with Godly virtues, preparing men and women for leadership and positive societal impact,” he stated.
MacPherson University, established by Foursquare Gospel Church Nigeria, continues to strive for academic excellence while promoting strong moral values.
