‘We Should Have Scored More’ –Bosso Frustrated Despite Bayelsa United’s Win Over Heartland

Bayelsa United Technical Adviser, Ladan Bosso, has expressed concern over his players’ inability to convert a higher percentage of the chances they create in NPFL games, Completesports.com reports.

Bosso spoke after his Prosperity Boys edged Heartland 1-0, securing all three points in Sunday’s NPFL matchday-8 tie at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

“The spirit we used to play this match (against Heartland) is the same spirit we used against Plateau United in Nasarawa,” Bosso began after the thrilling contest.

“If we had taken our chances today, at least we would have scored more goals. And that’s a worrying situation for us. We need to work again on our goal-scoring.

“We just have to make the most of the players we have available because we can’t bring in any new players for registration until, maybe, during the mid-season transfer window.

“But for now, we will work with what we have and assess who can step up. I believe we have a team that’s ready to compete, but the problem is the inconsistency of some players.

“Today we play well, and tomorrow we play poorly. These are the things we need to fix. It’s all about the mindset of the players. They play under pressure because they know that everyone, especially the fans, expects victory.

“And when you take that pressure into your mind and onto the pitch, you’re bound to make mistakes. So, we’re trying to get them to just play their game, be themselves on the pitch, do what they know they can do, and leave the rest to God,” Bosso emphasised.

Rabiu Abdullahi came off the bench to score Bayelsa United’s opening goal 10 minutes after the start of the second half. It proved decisive as the Naze Millionaires pushed hard to equalise, but the home side defended stoutly in large numbers, keeping their composure until the final whistle.

Bayelsa United now move up the table with nine points, sitting in 15th position, while Heartland drop to 17th place with six points.

Bayelsa United will travel to Lobi Stars for a Match Day 9 fixture, while Heartland face a tricky home game against league leaders Remo Stars, who top the table with 18 points from eight matches.
