LG Chairman, Musibau Asafa, Dies After Prolonged Illness

The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa, has passed away following a prolonged illness, plunging the council and its residents into mourning.

His death was confirmed in an official statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Bodunrin Ayodele, via the council’s Facebook page. While the exact date of his passing was not disclosed, the statement described the late chairman as a “respected politician, leader, and dedicated public servant.”

“Prince Asafa succumbed to a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the people he served,” the statement read.

According to a close family source, the chairman battled health challenges for some time before eventually succumbing, despite medical efforts to restore his health.

Tributes have begun to pour in from across Lagos State as colleagues, political leaders, and residents express their condolences. Among those who have publicly mourned his passing is the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area, Abdul-Hamed Salawu, who conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the Somolu LGA administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) family.

“The Executive, Legislature, Management, and the people of Somolu Local Government extend their deepest condolences to the people of Oto-Awori LCDA and the APC family over the painful demise of Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa,” Salawu’s statement read. “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”

Prince Asafa’s tenure was marked by efforts to improve the welfare and development of Oto-Awori LCDA. His leadership style and dedication to public service have been widely praised.

The Oto-Awori community and Lagos political landscape are expected to continue paying tribute in the days ahead as arrangements for his final rites unfold.
