The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority stated on Wednesday that it rescued an asthmatic patient and a driver from an automobile collision in Ajala, Abule Egba, Lagos State.
According to the statement, an official of LASTMA, Ogunjobi, who led the rescue squad, revealed that the driver of the commercial Mitsubishi bus collided with a Toyota Sienna bus while traveling in a one-way route, resulting in the accident.
“He confirmed further that preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Toyota Sienna bus had a head collision with the white commercial Mitsubishi bus while driving against the direction prohibited by Law (One-way).”
He stated that the female asthmatic patient was taken to a hospital for immediate medical attention, while the drivers of the two collided cars were arrested.
“Immediately we arrived at the accident scene the driver of the commercial Mitsubishi white bus who had bruises all over his body and another female asthmatic patient were rescued by LASTMA officials.
“LASTMA Ogunjobi disclosed that while the rescued female asthmatic patient was immediately rushed to BISAM hospital for urgent medical attention, drivers of both vehicles were handed over to policemen from Meiran police station for further investigation,” the statement read.
However, LASTMA’s General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, has cautioned vehicles to avoid traveling in one direction.
“Driving against direction prohibited by Law (One-way) is against the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018,” he said.
