The Lagos State Government, through its Centre for Rural Development (CERUD) under the Office of Rural Development, has officially launched the Y2025 Training and Empowerment Programme in digital skills. The initiative, aimed at fostering economic growth and self-reliance in rural communities, was inaugurated on January 16 at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat Hall, Lagos.

Spearheaded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with support from Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the programme seeks to enhance the quality of life for rural residents by integrating digital skills into their careers, businesses, and entrepreneurial ventures.

The training was structured into two impactful sessions. The first session focused on branding and niche development, equipping participants with strategies to establish unique business identities. The second session centered on blog creation and social media integration, offering practical insights on building an online presence and leveraging digital platforms for business growth.

Over 100 participants, including youths, students, and adults, benefitted from the hands-on training. Free internet Wi-Fi access was provided to facilitate seamless learning and ensure the practical nature of the sessions.

In his address to attendees, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, emphasized the importance of utilizing the opportunities presented by the programme. He highlighted how the initiative aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision of empowering youths and transforming them into self-reliant job creators.

This forward-looking initiative underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to driving digital inclusion and fostering entrepreneurial development in rural areas, paving the way for sustained economic empowerment and growth.
