The Lagos State Government has sealed DONALD Restaurant, owned by nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, over environmental infractions.
The restaurant, located on Road 14 in Lekki Phase 1, was shut down by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) after two of its staff were allegedly caught dumping refuse illegally along Durosimi-Etti Street.
According to LAWMA’s Managing Director/CEO, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the agency received an alert in the early hours of Saturday, May 18, 2025, from the Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA), reporting the illegal activity.
“A white Ford van with Abuja registration number GWA 136E was caught in the act of indiscriminately discharging waste,” Gbadegesin revealed via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The vehicle was traced back to DONALD Restaurant.
LERA’s Chief Security Officer apprehended the suspects at the scene and took them into custody at the LERA Secretariat. Reports further indicate that the suspects attempted to bribe the security team with ₦100,000 — an offer that was firmly rejected.
LAWMA’s Monitoring and Compliance Team later arrived to take custody of the suspects and subsequently sealed the restaurant for violating the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.
Gbadegesin confirmed that the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly, emphasizing LAWMA’s commitment to a cleaner Lagos.
“LAWMA remains resolute in enforcing environmental regulations and urges all residents and businesses to adopt proper waste disposal practices. A clean and livable city is a shared responsibility,” he said.
