Lagos PDP Factions Unite, Set Sights on 2027 Elections

Lagos State factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resolved to put aside their differences and work collectively in the interest of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The reconciliation meeting, held at the residence of Alhaji Muritala Ashorobi, the first chairman of the party in Lagos and current chairman of the state’s Reconciliation Committee, brought together key stakeholders.

Among those in attendance were former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Olabode George; former Minister of Cooperation and Integration, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu; former Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Mrs. Aduke Maina; Lagos State PDP Chairman, Mr. Philip Aivoji; Captain Tunji Shelle (retd); Alhaji Ramoni Owokoniran; Dr. Niran Adeniji; as well as members of the Reconciliation Committee and the State Executive Council.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the party leaders reaffirmed their commitment to unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

“The meeting resolved that the status quo within the party remains, and all members must unite. Party members across the 20 local government areas in the state must mobilize Lagosians to wrest power from the APC in 2027,” the communiqué stated.

The leaders also warned against anti-party activities, cautioning members allegedly working with the APC to desist or leave the PDP immediately.

“APC has greatly disappointed Nigerians and must be voted out in 2027,” the statement read.

With this renewed unity, the Lagos PDP is setting its sights on reclaiming political dominance in the state.
