KANO — In a significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, a former close associate of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and a notable figure in Kano politics, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dangwani’s defection was announced during a well-attended ceremony in Kano, where he was joined by dozens of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The event was presided over by Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, and witnessed by key stakeholders of the party.
Addressing the gathering, Dangwani lauded the APC’s leadership and organizational strength at both state and national levels. He cited his desire to associate with a party “capable of fulfilling its promises to Nigerians” as a key reason for the switch.
The development marks a strategic win for the APC, particularly in Kano, a politically pivotal state. Dangwani’s former affiliation with Kwankwaso, now the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), underscores the significance of his defection.
Welcoming the new members, APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas described the move as a boost to the party’s grassroots mobilization. He assured all defectors of equal rights and full integration into the party structure.
Political observers view Dangwani’s defection as a potential game-changer in Kano’s evolving political landscape.
