The national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has strongly criticized the recent defection of key members of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a betrayal of trust and loyalty.
Addressing supporters from Takai Local Government Area at his Miller Road residence in Kano on Friday, Kwankwaso expressed disappointment over the exit of Senator Abdulrahman Kawu (Kano South) and several federal lawmakers who recently joined the APC.
“Kano South is a lesson. Voters rejected superghetti, N200 and Atamfa (wrappers) and were patient to vote for the NNPP,” Kwankwaso said, lamenting that those entrusted with the party’s mandate had now abandoned the ideals of the movement.
He added, “There is no worse political sin than leaving the party that gave you the opportunity and support but later you abandoned the party. This is the highest level of betrayal.”
While praising loyal supporters who chose to remain with the NNPP, the former governor described their decision as a sign of true commitment to the Kwankwasiyya vision. He also warned that those who defected would eventually regret their actions.
Kwankwaso reaffirmed his dedication to building a party driven by the interests of the people, not personal gain.
