KANO — A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has downplayed the political influence of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), asserting that the group lacks the capacity to hinder President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospects of securing a sweeping victory in the North come 2027.
Kwankwaso made the remarks in Kano on Friday in response to criticisms from ACF members, including former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung. The critics had opposed recent comments by APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, suggesting that the North should wait until 2031 to reclaim political power.
“The ACF has no political value or influence to stop President Bola Tinubu from massively winning the northern votes in 2027,” Kwankwaso stated emphatically.
Highlighting Tinubu’s contributions to national development, particularly in the North, Kwankwaso cited key infrastructure projects and policies as evidence of the President’s dedication. Among these is the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission and the recently approved ₦150 billion Kano city railway project.
“Ganduje was right to have said that the North should wait till 2031 to start talking about power because President Tinubu is doing well in turning around the country for the good of all Nigerians. He should be allowed to complete his eight-year term in 2031,” he added.
Kwankwaso further emphasized that Northern Nigeria has become a hub of developmental projects under Tinubu’s administration, with numerous initiatives currently underway and more expected if the President secures a second term.
“Today, the entire Northern Nigeria has become a project site with so many ongoing projects being executed with the full support of President Tinubu, and more are coming by the time he wins his second term in 2027,” he affirmed.
Expressing confidence in Tinubu’s re-election bid, Kwankwaso concluded, “These and many other strong points clearly show that President Tinubu will convincingly win his second term in 2027, God willing.”
