Kogi State Government Dismisses Assassination Plot Allegations Against Yahaya Bello, Ododo, and Akpabio

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has vehemently denied allegations that former governor Yahaya Bello, current Governor Usman Ododo, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio plotted to assassinate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The allegations surfaced when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan addressed her supporters in her hometown, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, during a rousing welcome on Tuesday. The senator claimed that Akpabio had initiated her recall process after allegedly promising funds to the former governor and had suggested that she be killed, with specific instructions to ensure it did not occur in Abuja.

Speaking to Channels TV, Fanwo dismissed the allegations as baseless and insisted that no such discussions ever took place.

“There was never any conversation about recalling the suspended senator or plotting to assassinate her,” Fanwo stated. He emphasized that the administration of Governor Ododo, along with Senate President Akpabio, remains focused on governance and development rather than personal vendettas.

Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed that she had formally notified the Inspector General of Police regarding the alleged plot, asserting that the threat was real despite not making it public earlier.

The unfolding controversy has sparked public discourse, with various stakeholders calling for thorough investigations to ascertain the truth behind the accusations.
