Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has dismissed a U.S. proposal to relocate Palestinians from the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, declaring that such plans “will go nowhere.”
Speaking in Tehran on Tuesday during a meeting with Ziyad al-Nakhalah, leader of the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad, Khamenei condemned what he called “idiotic American plans” for Gaza and Palestine.
The remarks come amid global backlash over a reported proposal by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which suggested a U.S. takeover of Gaza and the relocation of its residents to Egypt and Jordan. The plan has been widely criticized by Arab nations, world leaders, and the United Nations, which warned against potential ethnic cleansing.
“No plan will be completed without the consent of the resistance and the people of Gaza,” Khamenei asserted.
Iran has strongly opposed the U.S. proposal, denouncing it as an “unprecedented attack on international law and the UN Charter.”
