The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of deploying deceptive tactics he likened to fraudulent “419” schemes in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Sunday Politics, a programme aired on Channels Television, Keyamo said the political strategies being adopted by the ADC are outdated and easily recognisable by Nigerians.
“They know us very well, and we also know them very well. They are not strangers to us,” the minister stated.
According to Keyamo, who once served as a prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the tactics employed by the ADC are reminiscent of fraudulent methods he encountered in the past.
“Some of these tactics they are using are what is called 419. It was what I used to prosecute people for as an EFCC prosecutor. The format they are using is expired,” he said.
He further criticised the party for what he described as the manipulation of statistics and selective presentation of facts to mislead the public.
“Nigerians know that format already. So you cannot use it to deceive them—reeling out figures, picking out isolated incidents and using them for generalisation,” he added.
Keyamo’s comments come amid increasing political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties positioning themselves for a potential shift in Nigeria’s leadership landscape.
The ADC has yet to respond to the minister’s remarks at the time of filing this report.
