Kebbi Government Nears Completion of Four Mega Primary Schools

The Kebbi State Government has provided updates on its ongoing construction of four mega primary schools across the state, revealing that one of the projects is nearing completion.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed, the initiative is part of Governor Nasir Idris’s campaign promises to transform the education sector through strategic infrastructural development and innovation.

Governor Idris, who assumed office in May 2023, had identified the lack of adequate school infrastructure as a major challenge facing basic education in the state. As a result, he pledged to construct mega primary schools in Birnin Kebbi, Argungu, Yauri, and Zuru to improve access to quality education.

“These schools are designed not only to accommodate more pupils but also to introduce skills acquisition and development into the basic education system,” the statement noted.

The governor aims to correct what he described as the misconception that education is solely a pathway to white-collar jobs or government employment. Instead, he emphasized the importance of empowering young learners with practical, self-sustaining skills from an early age.

“All four mega schools, which commenced construction within months of the new administration, are at advanced stages and moving steadily toward completion,” Ahmed stated. “I, along with some visiting journalists, inspected the school site in Yauri today, where finishing touches are being applied.”

The mega schools are expected to serve as a model for future educational infrastructure in the state, blending conventional academics with vocational training to prepare pupils for a dynamic future.
