The Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) of Katsina State-owned tertiary institutions has issued a 14-day ultimatum, commencing December 9, demanding the full implementation of salary structures as approved by the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission.
Chairman of the forum, Comrade Muhammad Nasir Gidado, announced this resolution during a press briefing held at the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic following the conclusion of the JCF’s joint consultative meeting.
The forum emphasized Katsina State’s longstanding commitment to implementing new salary structures and reiterated the importance of adhering to the national minimum wage framework.
Comrade Gidado raised concerns about the omission of salary tables for academic and non-academic staff at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) from previous submissions. He also expressed dissatisfaction with adjustments made to the consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONTISS 11).
“We want to draw the attention of the state government to the fact that this ultimatum has been issued in the collective interest of all staff of Katsina State-owned tertiary institutions,” said Gidado. “It is hoped that the government will act promptly to ensure the maintenance of industrial harmony.”
The institutions represented under the JCF include UMYU, Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HUkP), Isah Kaita College of Education, Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education, Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM), Colleges of Health Sciences, and Colleges of Nursing, among others.
The forum called for swift action by the state government to address these concerns and uphold its commitment to fair and equitable remuneration for all staff members.
