Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has suspended the Acting Head of Service and Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Salisu Mustapha, with immediate effect over alleged salary deductions and the non-payment of some civil servants.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed that Mustapha has been directed to step aside as Permanent Secretary, Establishment, under the Office of the Head of Service, to ensure a transparent investigation.
To maintain administrative continuity, Governor Yusuf has appointed Malam Umar Muhammad Jalo, the Permanent Secretary of the Reform and Productivity Agency (REPA), as the new Acting Head of Service pending the outcome of the probe.
Reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on financial malpractice, the governor warned that anyone found culpable would face severe consequences.
“The Abdulkadir Abdussalam-led investigative committee, inaugurated today, has been given seven days to uncover the root of the irregularities and submit its findings,” part of the statement read.
Mustapha had only recently assumed office as Acting Head of Service following the medical leave granted to the substantive Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, who is currently receiving treatment in India.
