Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo has issued a public apology to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for wrongly implicating him in the emirship dispute in the state.
Previously, Gwarzo had accused Ribadu of facilitating the return of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero by providing him with private jets. Ribadu denied the accusations and threatened legal action.
At a press conference on Monday at the Kano Government House, Gwarzo retracted the allegations, admitting that the government had been misled about Ribadu’s involvement.
“The Office of the National Security Adviser has refuted the allegations and distanced themselves from what we have alleged. We acknowledge that we were misled into believing the NSA was behind these events,” Gwarzo stated.
He expressed regret over the confusion and embarrassment caused by the false accusations, assuring Ribadu of continued support and cooperation from the Kano State government.
“We apologize to the National Security Adviser, his person, and office for any embarrassment and inconveniences this might have caused. On behalf of myself and the Governor of Kano State, we assure the NSA of our continued support in his duties,” Gwarzo concluded.
