Ex-Vice President Accuses Conservatives of Orchestrating “Decades-Long” Power Grab
Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has sharply criticized President Donald Trump and his political allies, calling out what she described as a long-standing conservative agenda disguised as recent political chaos.
In her first major public address since the November election, Harris spoke at an event hosted by Emerge, a political group that grooms Democratic women for public office. She accused Trump of being a “vessel” for right-wing operatives bent on reshaping the country to serve the elite.
“What we are, in fact, witnessing is a high-velocity event, where a vessel is being used for the swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making,” Harris declared.
She detailed a Republican blueprint aimed at slashing public education, shrinking and privatizing government services, and enriching the wealthiest Americans through tax cuts.
Harris painted a grim picture of Trump’s first 100 days in office, marked by a torrent of executive orders impacting immigration, foreign aid, and even household regulations like showerhead pressure. Critics, including Harris, say the administration has shown open disregard for democratic norms and the rule of law, often clashing with the judiciary.
“Trump’s vision is narrow and self-serving,” Harris added. “They punish truth-tellers, reward loyalists, cash in on power, and leave the rest of us to fend for ourselves.”
While some of Trump’s supporters have embraced his sweeping changes, national polls suggest growing public unease over political instability and economic volatility, especially as a result of fluctuating tariffs.
Since leaving office in January, Harris has remained largely out of the spotlight. However, her appearance on Wednesday has reignited speculation about a potential run for California governor in 2026 or even a bid for the presidency in 2028.
Harris ended her speech by warning that Trump’s efforts to undermine universities and the judiciary are part of a broader strategy to silence dissent and consolidate power.
