Kalu: Tinubu Will Secure 80% of South-East Votes in 2027

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will garner between 70 to 80 percent of votes from the South-East in the 2027 presidential election, citing the President’s commitment to the development of the region.

Kalu made the assertion on Friday during an address in Ntalakwu, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State. The statement was issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu.

Highlighting the unprecedented support Tinubu has shown the region, Kalu noted that the President’s approval and funding of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) has demonstrated a genuine interest in addressing long-standing promises made to the Igbo people.

“We are promising the President 70 to 80 percent of votes from Igboland,” Kalu said. “Let us continue to remain as people who love peace and unity. No other President has remembered the promises made to the Igbo people after the civil war like President Bola Tinubu.”

He added that past administrations had failed to honour those promises for over five decades, but Tinubu’s administration took concrete steps by signing the SEDC bill into law and releasing funds for its implementation.

“He answered our problem to enable us to develop the rural communities in Igboland,” Kalu said. “He loves Ndi Igbo, and we Igbos remember those who love us.”

The South-East Development Commission is expected to spearhead key infrastructural and economic development initiatives across the region.
