Kaduna – The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has announced that Local Government elections will take place on October 19, 2024.
During a meeting with political parties and other stakeholders in Kaduna, KAD-SIECOM Chairperson Hajara Mohammed stated that the current council members, who were sworn into office on November 1, 2021, will complete their three-year tenure on October 31, 2024.
“The current council members were sworn into office on November 1, 2021, and will end their three-year tenure on October 31, 2024. KAD-SIECOM is responsible for organizing the elections of chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and councillors in the state,” she explained.
In accordance with section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, the commission has set the Local Government Area (LGA) council election for Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Chairperson Mohammed also announced that the election timetable and guidelines have been released, affirming that KAD-SIECOM is prepared to conduct the elections on the scheduled date.
