The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the temporary suspension of train services along the Warri-Itakpe corridor, following a technical engine failure reported on Tuesday, April 9, 2025.
According to a statement shared by the Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the suspension will last for 72 hours to allow for a comprehensive technical assessment.
“In view of the situation, the NRC has suspended operations on the Warri-Itakpe route for 72 hours. This pause will allow our technical team to conduct a full audit, resolve all identified issues, and restore safe and reliable service,” the statement read in part. It was signed by Henrietta Eregare, the Corporation’s Public Relations Officer.
