ABUJA — The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a fresh directive mandating that all mobile phones and electronic devices must be completely switched off during aircraft take-off and landing.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, in a post on X (formerly Twitter). According to him, the move comes after the harmonization of regulations guiding the use of phones and other gadgets on flights across Nigeria.
The decision followed an emergency meeting earlier in the day with aviation industry stakeholders, aimed at tightening safety protocols and ensuring strict compliance with global aviation standards.
Details of the new directive and its enforcement guidelines are expected to be released soon.
