JUST IN: Lagos Assembly Rejects Confirmation Of 17 Commissioner Nominees

On Wednesday, the Lagos State House of Assembly approved 22 of the 39 commissioner nominees that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had forwarded to it for review and approval.

The House also rejected 17 other nominees, including Gbenga Omotosho, a former information commissioner under Governor Sanwo-Olu, and Prof. Akin Abayomi, a former health commissioner.

The confirmation came after a thorough and thorough vetting of the nominations by an ad hoc committee headed by the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Fatai Mojeed, according to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who presided over Wednesday’s session.

In a statement released by his media assistant, Eromosele Ebhomele, the Speaker praised the committee for its efficiency and reminded the confirmed nominees to never forget that their primary responsibility as public servants is to the state’s citizens, not to themselves.

He also pledged that the House would keep working hard for the good of the country.

Some of those confirmed are Hon. Layode Ibrahim, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, Hon. Bola Olumegbon, Mr. Idris Aregbe, Ms. Abisola Ruth Olusanya, Mr. Moruf Akinderu Fatai, Mr. Kayode Bolaji-Roberts, Engr. Abiola Olowu, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Dr.

Others include Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, and Dr. Jide Babatunde. Mr. Abdulkabir Ogungbo, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, and Mr. Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu.

Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, Prof. Akin Abayomi, Mr. Yomi Oluyomi, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose, Ms. Barakat Bakare, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, Engr. Olalere Odusote, Dr. Rotimi Fashola, Mrs. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, and Mr. Sam Egube are among those who were rejected by the House.

Mr. Olalekan Fatodu, Mrs. Solape Hammond, Mr. Mosopefolu George, and Engineers Aramide Adeyoye, Seun Osiyemi, Rotimi Ogunwuyi, and Dr. Olumide Oluyinka were additionally impacted.

The 17 nominations for Commissioner were rejected by the State Assembly without being given a reason.
