Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has clarified that the release of Nnamdi Kanu was not a topic of discussion during his meeting with the Southeast governors in Enugu on Tuesday, July 2.
The meeting, which also included Chief Emeka Anyaoku, focused on regional development issues. Obasanjo’s special assistant on media, Kehinde Akinyemi, emphasized in a statement on Wednesday, July 3, that the discussions were centered on security, infrastructure, and economic collaboration to complement the national development agenda.
“The meeting with them was at my invitation and that of Chief Emeka Anyaoku before their summit begins. The issue of Nnamdi Kanu was not on the agenda and was not discussed in my presence,” Obasanjo stated.
The governors present at the meeting were Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Alex Otti of Abia, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, and Peter Mbah of Enugu.
