In a move to ease the financial burden on Nigerians during the holiday season, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to ₦899.50 per litre.
Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the price of its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) product to below ₦900 per litre to provide much-needed relief for Nigerians ahead of the holiday season,” Chiejina said.
The privately-owned refinery, which is Africa’s largest of its kind, had previously adjusted the price to ₦970 per litre on November 24. This latest price reduction is part of its strategy to mitigate transportation costs for consumers during the festive period.
As part of this initiative, Dangote Refinery has introduced a unique consumer incentive. Customers paying cash for petrol will be eligible to purchase an additional litre on credit, guaranteed by Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.
“To alleviate transport costs during this holiday season, Dangote Refinery is offering a holiday discount on PMS. From today, our petrol will be available at ₦899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or Single Point Mooring (SPM) facility,” Chiejina stated.
He further emphasized the refinery’s commitment to delivering premium-quality petroleum products at competitive prices. The products are designed to be both environmentally friendly and engine-efficient.
The Dangote Refinery has significantly impacted Nigeria’s petroleum market, effectively curbing the importation of substandard and blended fuel products. These low-quality imports have long posed risks to public health, machinery, and the environment.
The price reduction and consumer-friendly incentives underscore the refinery’s dedication to supporting Nigerians during the holiday season while setting a benchmark for product quality and service delivery in the industry.
