Jonathan Warns Public of Fake Instagram Account Impersonating Him

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has raised the alarm over a fraudulent Instagram account impersonating him, warning Nigerians and the international community to be wary of scammers.

In a statement on Thursday by his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan clarified that he does not operate any Instagram account, contrary to claims made by the impostor.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fraudulent Instagram account operating under the handle goodluck_ebelejonathan, which is falsely impersonating former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” the statement read.

According to Eze, the fake account has been posting deceptive content, some of which were lifted directly from Jonathan’s official Facebook page, in an apparent bid to appear authentic.

“We wish to emphasise that Dr. Jonathan does not operate any Instagram account,” the aide stressed.

The former president’s office urged the media and the public to disregard, avoid sharing, or promoting any material from the fraudulent handle, warning that such content does not reflect Jonathan’s views or activities.
