Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially signed the 2025 state budget into law, allocating a total of ₦698.3 billion for the state and ₦184.4 billion for its 27 local government areas. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Dutse, the state capital.
The budget, which was passed without any amendments by the state House of Assembly on Monday, reflects the state’s commitment to addressing key sectors that impact the lives of its citizens.
Governor Namadi expressed his gratitude towards the lawmakers for their swift passage of the budget. He also extended his appreciation to the Speaker of the House, Haruna Dangyatim, for his leadership and dedication to the state’s development.
“I am pleased that the budget has been passed without any changes, and I appreciate the efforts of the lawmakers in ensuring its speedy passage,” Namadi said after signing the budget documents.
The Governor also commended the Speaker for his significant contribution to the development of Jigawa, particularly in the areas of agriculture and education.
In his address, Speaker Dangyatim praised Governor Namadi’s vision and leadership, highlighting the significant strides made in agricultural and educational development under his administration. He reaffirmed the assembly’s support for the governor’s development agenda and assured continued collaboration in ensuring effective budget implementation.
The 2025 budget, labeled “The Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa,” is focused on enhancing key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. The budget allocates ₦534.76 billion for capital investment, ₦63.69 billion for recurrent expenses, and ₦90.76 billion for personnel costs.
Notably, the healthcare sector has received substantial funding, with over ₦40 billion earmarked for the improvement of healthcare services across the state. This is expected to have a significant impact on the accessibility and quality of healthcare for Jigawa residents.
Governor Namadi’s administration has committed to ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of the budget, focusing on innovation and transformative initiatives for the state’s growth and development in the coming year.
