The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended two Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for breaching registration procedures in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, announced the suspension in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja. The affected centres include the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum in Yobe State and a CBT centre in Otukpo, Benue State.
According to the statement, the suspension, which took effect on Tuesday, February 4, will last for 14 days, ending on Monday, February 17. The board cited a major procedural violation that compromised security measures designed to prevent infractions and safeguard the integrity of candidates’ registration information.
JAMB mandates CBT centres to have candidates manually fill out a paper form before uploading their details to the registration portal, ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of the provided information. However, some centres, in an attempt to maximize registrations, have ignored these guidelines despite prior warnings.
“This suspension serves as a stern warning to any centre considering similar actions. Any centre found uploading blank templates in the future will face cancellation and permanent disqualification from participating in JAMB activities,” the statement read.
The 2025 UTME registration, which commenced on Monday, February 3, is scheduled to continue until Saturday, March 8.
CBT centres play a critical role as JAMB-approved registration hubs for candidates applying to sit for the UTME, the entrance examination into Nigerian tertiary institutions. These centres must meet JAMB’s accreditation and operational standards to maintain their approval.
