The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a remarkable financial milestone, remitting over N9 billion to the Nigerian government in 2024. The board generated a total income of N22.99 billion during the year, out of which N6.03 billion was directly remitted to the government.
According to the board’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, the N6.03 billion represents JAMB’s operating surplus following the successful conduct of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Additionally, the board noted that a reduction of N1,500 in the cost of UTME forms, which benefitted numerous candidates, further contributed to the total remittance. This reduction, when multiplied by the number of candidates who benefited, increased the total remittance to N9.01 billion.
Over the past seven years, under the leadership of Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB has contributed more than N50 billion to the national treasury, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the Nigerian government’s financial health.
The board emphasized its dedication to transparency, highlighting its ongoing efforts to promote financial responsibility while facilitating the education and career aspirations of countless Nigerian students.
