The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 1,687,860 candidates have registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with just six days left before the registration deadline on March 8.
According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, the registration process, which commenced on February 3, has been ongoing for 26 days. The 2025 UTME is set to take place from Friday, April 18.
JAMB had initially projected two million candidates for this year’s examination. A breakdown of the registration figures shows that 201,867 candidates registered in the first week, 560,025 in the second week, 528,832 in the third week, and 1,290,715 by the fourth week.
The board emphasized that there would be no extension of the registration deadline beyond March 8.
A review of the 2024 UTME statistics revealed that 1,989,668 candidates registered for the exam, out of which 1,904,189 sat for it, while 80,810 were absent. Performance analysis showed that 73.7% of candidates scored below 200, while only 0.4% attained scores above 300.
With the 2025 UTME registration closing soon, prospective candidates are urged to complete their registration promptly to avoid last-minute challenges.
