An Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza has reportedly struck a hospital operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), killing at least 19 people, including nine minors. Several others sustained injuries in the strike on Jabalia, according to local media reports.
The Israeli military has acknowledged the incident and stated that the claim is currently under investigation. Witnesses reported that internally displaced people were present near the hospital at the time of the attack, and a fire broke out within the building as a result.
In a separate incident in Gaza, four more individuals lost their lives, while rescue teams in Khan Younis recovered the bodies of 12 people from the rubble, including women and children.
Last month, the Israeli military launched strikes across Gaza following a weeks-long standoff over extending the ceasefire that had ended fighting between Israel and Hamas in January.
Reacting to the devastating news, Tom Fletcher, Head of the UN’s Humanitarian Affairs Bureau, expressed deep concern over the deadly attacks, calling for urgent humanitarian intervention and a thorough investigation.
