INEC Unveils Final List of Candidates for Ibadan North Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the names of five candidates cleared to contest the upcoming bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat in Oyo State.

The bye-election, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, was necessitated by the death of the former occupant, Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, who was serving his second term under the All Progressives Congress (APC) before passing away in July last year.

According to a statement from INEC obtained by DAILY POST on Monday, the final list comes after 19 political parties initially expressed interest in the race. However, only five made it to the final ballot.

The confirmed candidates are:

  • Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu – African Democratic Congress (ADC)
  • Adewale Haastrup Olatunji – All Progressives Congress (APC)
  • Olabisi Olajumoke Odususi – All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
  • Fola Sunday Oyekunle – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
  • Hammed Badmus – Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)

With the political temperature in Ibadan North heating up, all eyes are now on the five contenders as they prepare to battle for the coveted seat at the National Assembly.
