Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has openly declared his readiness to focus on political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship race, stating that he has completed the phase of “real governance” in his first two years in office.

The governor made the declaration while addressing a massive crowd of party supporters and aides under the platform of the Cross River Political Network (CRISPON) during events marking the second anniversary of his administration.

Speaking at the gathering, Otu said, “As from next week, after May 29 Democracy Day, when I complete two years in office, I will resume and devote more time to politicking towards 2027. I have done two years of real governance.”

He noted that within the two-year period, his administration has recorded significant achievements and enjoyed strong public support, which he described as the driving force behind his performance.

“In these two years, I have not disappointed the state. I will never disappoint in the course of governance. What I’ve done in these two years, I never imagined I could have done it. But I have enjoyed your overall support,” the governor said.

Governor Otu also highlighted the strategic benefits of aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level, attributing the state’s recent developmental gains to President Bola Tinubu’s support and the ruling party’s favour.

“Cross River won’t be cheated anymore,” he declared, adding that his administration is committed to delivering deeper impacts across the state.

Earlier, the Director General of CRISPON, Prince Mike Nku Abuo, praised the achievements of both President Tinubu and Governor Otu, calling for automatic second-term tickets for both leaders in recognition of their performance.

He assured that CRISPON would continue to engage with the public and mobilize support for the governor’s re-election bid.
