“I’m Done”: APC’s Joe Igbokwe Slams Biafra Agitations

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has once again condemned the continued agitation for the actualization of Biafra, warning that it poses a serious threat to the stability and progress of Nigeria’s Southeast region.

In a strongly worded post on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe expressed frustration over what he described as the “senseless agitations” by pro-Biafra groups, particularly the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), stating that the movement is leading the region towards destruction.

“I wrote the book, IGBO: 25 Years After Biafra in 1995 — they did not listen. I wrote IGBO: 50 Years After Biafra in 2020 — they still did not listen,” Igbokwe lamented. “I have written hundreds of articles warning that these senseless agitations will destroy the Southeast — they did not listen. I am done.”

His remarks come amid the enforcement of a sit-at-home order declared by IPOB in parts of the Southeast to commemorate the 2025 Biafra Day.

As observed by Daily Post, the sit-at-home paralyzed normal activities across several cities, including Umuahia, the Abia State capital, where streets were largely deserted. In many areas, businesses remained closed, and roads were empty except for the occasional movement of tricycles and a few vehicles.

The Biafra agitation, led by IPOB, has continued to stir deep political and ethnic debates, with supporters demanding independence for the Igbo-dominated region, while critics like Igbokwe argue that such efforts are counterproductive and harmful to the socio-economic development of the Southeast.

Igbokwe’s renewed stance adds to the growing voices within the Southeast cautioning against the long-term consequences of the recurring separatist campaigns.
