The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered an immediate clampdown on those responsible for the deadly explosion at the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State, which claimed the lives of two officers in the early hours of January 9, 2025.
The attack, occurring around 12:10 a.m., tragically resulted in the deaths of Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat. In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, the incident was attributed to suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
Condemning the heinous act, the Inspector-General assured that no individual or group involved in the killing of police officers would evade justice. Extending his condolences to the bereaved families, the IG vowed to ensure the prompt payment of the officers’ entitlements, honoring their sacrifice in the line of duty.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, relayed the IG’s directives to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zone 15, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to deploy all necessary resources and collaborate with other security agencies to apprehend the culprits.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property. Those responsible for this nefarious act will face the full wrath of the law,” Adejobi quoted the IG as saying.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with security efforts intensifying across Borno State to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
