The House of Representatives has decided to reduce their salaries by 50% for the next six months to contribute N648 million in support of the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance food sufficiency and tackle the escalating cost of food across Nigeria.

In addition, the lawmakers have urged Nigerians to remain patient with President Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as it works to address the ongoing challenges and hardships faced by citizens.

The House has directed its Committee on Appropriation, Humanitarian Affairs, Finance, and Budget to ensure the implementation of this resolution.

This decision came after a motion was presented on the floor of the House by Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka (APC-Ogun State) during a plenary session in Abuja.

Further details on the initiative are expected to be released soon.
